The Revitalization of Traditional Cherokee Artisan Resources (RTCAR) initiative was a multi-year grantmaking program whose purpose was to assist the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) as the tribe worked to restore the traditional Cherokee balance between maintaining and using natural resources like river cane, white oak and clay. The Cherokee Preservation Foundation funded RTCAR through Western Carolina University's Cherokee Studies Program until 2010 and through EBCI Cooperative Extension until September 30, 2023.
